Although web optimization, is very popular at the moment – website optimisation is still only one facet of a successful marketing strategy.

In reality, Search engine optimization is successful in combination with a number of other marketing and advertising plans. Here is an outline of the primary advantages and disadvantages:

SEO and PPC

Pay Per Click also called PPC advertising, such as Google AdWords or Facebook Ads, is a great technique to produce instant outcomes. It may start to generate final results for online lead generation from straight away. Even so, PPC campaigns usually hit a brick wall in form of the set budget – it basically can never be geared beyond the minimum cost per click. That’s where it works well combined with Search engine optimization, because an Search engine marketing approach can produce long-term leverage based on a lot of the information collected by the Pay-per-click campaign (for instance key phrases, the advertising copy, traffic stats, etc). When the outcomes of the Search engine marketing campaign start to kick in, the funds can little by little be re-directed to Website positioning as it is more utilized and therefore can sustain a reduced cost per lead.

Search engine optimisation and Social Media

Although many corporations are now starting their own social media campaigns, it continues difficult to establish a good Return on investment with social media. In many cases, the return is assessed in “brand engagement” and “business exposure”. Although unquestionably important, it is tricky to estimate a gain. On the other hand, mixing social media with Search engine optimization helps to increase the presence of your small business outside of the enclosed social media websites and enables customers to find your organization based on search phrases rather than connections. Mind you, Web optimization and social media are very effective alongside one another, since most search engines, including Google, now consider social evaluation an important vote of confidence for your website.

Search engine optimisation and Social video marketing

Social video marketing is a wonderful tool to build an emotional connection with your audience and leverage your presence online. For instance, you can record an event or business presentation and then re-use it on the web, without actually having to be there. A disadvantage of marketing with video can be the high cost associated with high quality and well produced videos. In the end, you can display top quality and well-produced videos on your web page, but if no one sees them they are not going to make an impact. For that reason creating an SEO campaign that boosts your rankings and exposes your terrific videos to more people will assist you to get a better return on investment from your marketing budget. Then again, if you’ve already created a YouTube Channel to improve exposure for your video tutorials, you can optimize each online video to display in the search engine and video search results increasing the exposure for your videos, your webpage and your business.

SEO and Public Relations

Public relations, also called PR for short, whether aimed at online or offline is all about letting people know about your business, improving your brand name and adding credibility. Increasing mentions in well-known news publications, and creating an online buzz with blog writers and social media is a good way to raise your profile. Normally, an elevated profile will generate a greater search volume of your company or your industry. And of course you want to be the business enterprise that is found. That is why Search engine marketing and Public Relations are a great combination. They combine to get your small business and brand in front of even more people and they work together to leverage the credibility you receive from news articles, important presentations, and other public events.

I was just in the middle of making a new information product today when the phone rang and it was a friend of mine on the end of the line.

The caller asked if they were interrupting anything and I  said it was fine that my video could wait while we had a chat.

“What’s the video about?” they asked.

“Oh just another in my series of “How To Do Your Family History” info products that I am selling on the web”

“Wow, ” they said, “I wish I knew how to do that!”

Well they and you can. It really isn’t all that hard to make an information product and I had to tell my friend that I had the very video that they needed to watch if they wanted to join me as an information marketeer. Just watch the clip below!

Videos are transforming into a vital component of the Internet, and a consistent way to dispense information over the Internet. In the past, sharing videos over the Internet wasn’t as effortless as it is in the present with the start of social media video sharing sites, for instance YouTube. As an Internet marketer, you should have the ability to comprehend the importance of these video sharing displays which allow you to get to the target audience with an uncomplicated video. You have this first time opportunity to leverage video content to gain visitor traffic to your site, increase your sales, collect more prospects and swell your online business.

Join a Niche Group: Video sharing sites like YouTube have targeted groups in almost every little niche; join these groups and become an active member. Contribute to the groups you join and be a part of the community. This way, once you get recognized, you can insert your website’s link in the signature before posting anything. If you’re able to give out valuable content that is targeted towards that particular group, the members will start to trust you and hence wouldn’t hesitate in checking out your signature link. This very much works like forums and discussion boards, except that it’s all about videos. Seize their Awareness: It’s not only crucial to display your foremost keyword in the title, although it’s important for you to have a mesmerizing headline for your video. Your aim is to get your viewers interested in what you’re offering them, and have them watch your video. Include aspects of amazement, disbelief, being dumbfounded, etc. The headline for your video should let your potential prospects know about the main unique selling point and what they can expect. Nevertheless this doesn’t mean that you can place a disingenuous title in order to be thrilling; it is essential for it to be significant to the video’s substance.

Video Response: YouTube allows you to post video comments, which are actually a great way to get your target audience to view your videos. All you need to do is find videos that are popular in your niche and create a video comment about them. But in order to make the most out of this method, you should try and find those videos that are actually gaining popularity and you know for sure that they would become a hit later on. This way, you’ll be one amongst the first to create a video comment and get noticed. So, the more video comments you make, the better.

All in all, getting targeted traffic coming in from video sharing websites isn’t really that difficult if you know what you’re doing. It is not all that hard to learn how to engage in video marketing. There is no escaping the fact that videos need to do a job, and that job is really the same as a good article. Making videos is nothing hard to do, and so just move forward with it and learn.

I’ve just been reading an old article of mine into my audio program and adding some tweaks to make an information product. The piece was one that I have submitted to the usual article marketing sites out on the net some time back. It is still evergreen material so it will be appreciated by the viewer.

You see I need something tangible to take to an event that is happening in a niche market that I operate in. Well a boring load of words in a pdf is just not going to cut the mustard and so I thought about a free video CD.

I opened up my powerpoint software, took some of the main points from the article and slotted them into some slides. Then I got out my new Kodak Zi8 and filmed a few relevant segments and dropped the whole thing into a short video presentation with me reading the article into the microphone on my laptop.

I shall burn it to disc and print a title and graphic on the printable disc and pop it in a sleeve and hey presto I’ve a tangible gift that I can give to people at the show. It has more value than a page of paper but it cost only a few pennies!

A simple information product with my website name all over it. And I do mean in the video as well as on the disc!

I’ve had time over the Christmas break to set too making a new information product. All I had with me, as I spent the holidays with the family, was my lap top and this turned out to be all the equipment that I needed anyway.

In case you are wondering just how to quickly and easily put an info product together, then I’ll share with you what I did.

I opened up a file on the computer, where I stored copies of my Help-Me-With-My-Family-Tree articles that I had already written for the purposes of article marketing of that niche site and for posting to my blog. What I did next was to read them to my web cam!

Then, while I had the article open I simply selected a few important sentences and dropped them into a power-point presentation. Next, I copied the slides by using a screen capture software (although I could have just pressed “Print Screen” and pasted the image into the free Paint software on my PC) and then saved them.

Opening up Windows Movie Maker I started a new project and imported the video of me talking to screen. I used the “split” button to cut the video into portions where I wanted to drop in a slide. I imported the jpeg images that I had saved previously to use in the finished piece.

Having copied the sound to the additional audio channel I could chop out bits of me, reading aloud as the “talking head”, to replace with slides as my commentary continued under, before fading back to the video.

Finding some royalty free music as an intro and outro I was finished.

Hey presto a simple video information product from re-purposing some work I had already done . I could then take some clips from the video and put them on YouTube as a marketing tool and for SEO backlinks to my website!

When you are making video information products, you may feel camera shy at first. Don’t worry, it happens to us all. So until you feel at ease talking on-camera, take a look at these few tips and tricks that you could utilise to boost your comfort level. The key, here, is you need to take the focus off yourself so you don’t feel like a rabbit caught in the headlights of an oncoming truck. What I suggest is that you try out one of the following techniques:

  1. Interview someone. Set up a tripod, or maybe ask someone else to do the videoing, and do an interview of an expert on-screen. Your focus should now be on your interviewee instead of the camera! Remember to speak slowly, not to talk over your guest and occasionally make eye contact with the camera to engage your viewers.
  2. Choose your camera person wisely. Instead of talking to a camera that is mounted on a tripod, ask a friend or relative to hold your camera. It can be so much easier for us to talk to a human instead of staring into the cold camera lens and trying to act as natural as we can.
  3. Keep it short. In your early videos, aim for just a few minutes. Creating longer videos is much more difficult, so start small. Bonus: Most people would rather watch five, three-minute videos than one, 15-minute video.
  4. Pretend you’re the interviewee. The idea here is instead of looking nervously into the camera, you turn yourself  ever so slightly sideways. You pretend that you are facing an interviewer, but in reality the interviewer is not there but it looks better on the screen. Next you should remember to answer questions in soundbites for the video. If you have good editing skills, you can add transitional slides in-between your answers that list the question your (invisible) interviewer just asked.
  5. Keep going. If you mess up, don’t stop, rewind, and re-record. Just keep going! You can trim out any mistakes in the editing phase. Restarting again and again is time-consuming and also can make you lose the flow of what you were saying. Proceed and when you watch it later, you may discover your “oops” moments weren’t nearly as bad as you thought! (They also make great fodder for a gag reel).

Recording video information products shouldn’t be like casting a plaque in iron; if you make a mistake, it’s quite easy to go back and correct. Give yourself permission to be a student learning your craft; aim to get better gradually. Focus on improvement, not perfection.

Eventually your information products will come to life.

I don’t think that there are that many lucky people that are gifted to have the natural ability to stand up and speak off-the-cuff and to do it intelligently and coherently. Those information product producers who want to appear in their own video “on camera” that have the ability so to do, will exude such confidence and professionalism to their viewers that it can be well worth the nerves. If you don’t have the knack then why not learn how to do it?

Those of us, to whom it doesn’t come as second nature, will have to work at it a little harder –  OK, some of us are going to have to work a LOT harder! Fortunately, even if your early efforts look like they were edited and scripted by a five-year-old on a fizzy drink high, there are some easy ways to make yourself look better on video.

  1. Write it down, but don’t memorize it. Some people need to know exactly what they’re going to say before they say it. If you tend to freeze up on camera, the best advice is to write out a script. One thing, however, DON’T even try to memorize it as it ends up looking awful! It’s really hard to look relaxed and natural when all you are doing is spouting words you have learned by heart. Instead, let your memory guide you. You could always stick your notes up on the walls behind the camera. No one will ever know!
  2. Slow down – but not too much. Studies show that while we believe we should speak slowly, a faster (yet still understandable) pace conveys authority. You want your audience to understand what you’re saying, but you don’t want to lull them to sleep.
  3. Practice inflection. Its up to you to put some enthusiasm into it. If you don’t sound up beat about your own material, why on earth should anyone else? Work on conveying interest and energy in your words and in your facial expression and your posture. If you need some guidance then take a look at the hosts on Home Shopping Networks for tips on how to sound enthusiastic. These professionals sell everything from jewelry to vacuum cleaners and still make it all sound good. If in doubt, flash a smile.
  4. Volume counts! One of the top reasons people stop watching videos is because they can’t hear the audio. Ensure that you’re speaking loud enough to be heard easily and also that there are no distracting noises of camera in the background. You may not notice the tumble-dryer or dishwasher running in the next room, but your audience certainly will. Test out your shooting location and play it back for a sound check.

Just as Martin Scorcese runs through many shots before he gets the one that will make it into the final cut, you also may need to shoot a few takes before getting it all right. Just look at those re-takes as practice, and adjust any areas of weakness until you look – and sound! – like a pro.
